Finance & Advisory FAQs

What Financial & Advisory roles do you recruit for?

We place finance professionals from mid-level to C-suite across three broad areas.

In accounting and control: Financial Controllers, Group Controllers, Heads of Accounting, Finance Managers, and qualified accountants working in HGB, IFRS, and US GAAP environments.

In FP&A and commercial finance: FP&A Managers, Finance Business Partners, Heads of FP&A, and commercial finance leads working closely with operational and executive teams.

At leadership level: CFOs, Finance Directors, and Heads of Finance for mid-sized businesses and international subsidiaries operating in Germany.

Transfer Pricing is a particular area of focus for us. We place Transfer Pricing specialists from analyst to Head of Transfer Pricing level, working with both in-house tax teams in large multinationals and candidates transitioning from Big 4 advisory practices. We also place specialists in Tax, Treasury, Internal Audit, and Risk.

Do you place interim finance professionals as well as permanent hires?

Yes. Interim and temporary appointments are a significant part of what we do in finance. Demand typically comes from M&A activity, ERP implementation projects, senior-level departures, and parental leave cover. Experienced interim CFOs, Controllers, and FP&A leads are often needed quickly and for a defined period — this is a different search from permanent hiring and we handle both.

Do you work with candidates moving from advisory into industry?

Yes, and this is a common career move in the German market. Many of the finance leaders we place have Big 4 or management consulting backgrounds and are making their first or second move into an industry role. Clients increasingly value this profile for the technical depth and project experience it brings, particularly for businesses going through transformation or building out their finance function. We have placed professionals from audit, transaction services, and advisory practices into CFO, Controller, and Finance Director roles across a range of industries.

What qualifications do finance clients in Germany typically ask for?

Requirements vary by level and company type. For accounting and control roles, German clients often specify knowledge of HGB alongside IFRS, particularly in Mittelstand businesses where local statutory reporting matters as much as group consolidation. Formal qualifications such as Bilanzbuchhalter, Wirtschaftsprüfer, or Steuerberater are valued for specialist roles. For international subsidiaries and larger corporates, ACCA, ACA, or CPA qualifications are well recognised. At senior level, clients generally prioritise relevant industry experience and track record over specific certifications.
